December ushers in the competition season for Bears cheerleading and we are so proud to share with the community the results of each team's hard work at their respective events.
The first weekend of December had three teams on a bus travelling to Niagara for the Festival of Lights Competition. Again this year, we thoroughly enjoyed our two days in Niagara.
In addition to our time at the Gale Centre, a majority of our athletes and their families enjoyed a great meal at Mick and Angelo's (and really liked seeing “Welcome Cheer On! Bears” up in lights on their street sign).
Our level 1 youth team, the Panda Bears, did two great runs of their routine and walked away with second place medals for all of its members.
Our new level 2 youth team, the Kenai Bears, and our senior level 2 team the Polar Bears, both performed impressive routines and demonstrated their teamwork throughout the weekend. They also came home with first place medals. We are so proud of all of our athletes and their great sportsmanship both on and off the mat.
This past weekend our two younger teams headed to London for the Power Cheer Christmas Challenge.
The Gummy Bears got their “first competition jitters” over with during their first run, and put on a fabulous second run of their routine. There was more than one judge who commented that their performances were “entertaining”, which made our day.
The Teddy Bears did a wonderful job showcasing all of their
new skills through both runs. There were so many big smiles and extremely proud parents.
We returned to the Den with two second place trophies and couldn't be prouder of our athletes. It was a fun, enjoyable
day that wound down with more than one athlete falling asleep on the bus ride home.
We are extremely proud of all of our Bears, thankful for the support and involvement of our Bears families and thrilled at the “small town pride” demonstrated by all.
As we head into the New Year we are looking forward to the opportunity to introduce more local youth to the awesome sport of cheerleading. Our “Try-It” practices are Tuesday Jan. 10 (6-7:30 p.m. for ages 6-11) and Wednesday, January 11 (5-6 p.m. for ages 5 and under, 8-9:30 p.m. for ages 12
and over). More information is available on our website www.cheeron.ca
