Food bank building community kitchen

The Centre Wellington Food Bank has big plans for its new kitchen.
Created through a $98,500 grant through Waterloo-Wellington Community Futures, the kitchen will be built to professional food-preparation standards.
Food bank manager Fred Aleksandrowicz hopes the kitchen will not only make up prepared meals for food bank clients, but also be used by entrepreneurs and community groups looking for cooking space.

Fundraising for Elora outdoor kitchen begins

A group in Elora hopes to create an outdoor community area around two wood-burning ovens.
The Kitchen in the Park Project, or KIPPelora, intends to create a community kitchen that will be used for all kinds of baking, and eventually will connect to a full food-preparation area that can be used for community events.

Sensational Elora donates to local food bank

The money has already been given, but the donation was acknowledged last week, when representatives of Sensational Elora, Scotiabank, and the Centre Wellington Food Bank gathered for an official presentation of Empty Bowls proceeds.

Naval centennial to recognize HMCS Fergus

Commander Robert Lewis-Manning, Commanding Officer of HMCS Vancouver of Canadian Fleet Pacific will present a framed pictorial history of Fergus’s namesake warship, to Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj on Friday, Feb.12 at 11 a.m. at the Fergus Legion.
